HOME Joint Custody – The children live with the residential custodian and visit with the non-residential parent. Both parents have an equal say in major decisions affecting the children and decisions can only be made with notice and consent. Joint property – Property held in the name of more than one person. Judgment – The final ruling of the judge on an action for divorce, legal separation, or annulment. Decree has the same meaning as judgment in other states. Jurisdiction – The power of the court to rule upon issues relating to the parties, their children or their property.
